Oysters & Champagne

Oh Lord I can’t believe the summer is over!  Back in June I celebrated my 33rd Birthday with a classic and fun Oysters & Champagne Party.  It was my very first time buying fresh oysters in downtown LA and our first time shucking oysters at home.  <3

If you’re interested in going downtown, I highly recommend the Los Angeles Fish Co.  They take card, are INCREDIBLY friendly, and the seafood is fresh.  There are some other places in downtown that are cheaper but the service at those places are NOT GOOD.  Like…It’s not even worth getting the cheaper prices.

Sunday Funday

Last week Mike and I went to a wedding for exactly 1.5 hours. :(. C was home sick and the baby sitter called bc she was being quite the handful.  Wahh. This was seriously one of the most gorgeous weddings E V E R  and it looked like the Korean Buffet was gonna be B O M B.

Sigh. Alas we didn’t get a chance to even smell the food before we had to leave.  I will always be sad about that.

Anyway, here are the gorgeous details of the wedding.  If I could do it all over again this is it~~ every last detail was perfect.  This wedding took place at Millwick in downtown LA.  Simply gorg for the greatest bride and groom! Xoxo

Wedding details :). Lace and leather.   Gorgeous nooks and crannies

The wedding took place across from our old church, which was held at the art share for a few years.  Such great memories.

Weekend Recap and Photodump

This past weekend was filled with lots of lucy bear cuddles.  Mike went down to SD to do a big superbowl weekend with his friends and that left just the blair girls to play~~ ^^

BESIDES superbowl sunday~~ two fun events were celebrating beautiful natalie’s first birthday party & eggslut in grad cental station! xo

Isn’t natalie just gorgeous?  I’m obsessed with this cutie pie.

IMG_2564

IMG_2567

Lucy was SUCH a trooper that day.  She played with all the babies (tried to lick them to death really…) and let them grab her fur/whiskers/face.  After a few hours Lucy retreated to some nice shade underneath the table where she sneaked a few bites from the trash.  sneaky sneaky ^^

IMG_2570

These three ladies and I have really grown the most beautiful friendship over the last 4-5 years.  We started in the same department at UCLA and then each branched out into different positions and places on campus.  And the really fun part…is that in just a few months I’ll have a little girl too!  So excited to have play dates, share fun memories and just our families together! xoxo

IMG_2572

as soon as we got home, lucy bear PASSED OUT with her leash on.  lol  the park, the kids and all the excitement was just a little too much.  hehe the next few sleeping pics are all later that night.  poor lucy couldn’t keep her eyes open.

Sunday I checked out grand central station with my old roommie and fellow chang-sta.  I got to try three places at the same time which REALLY made my inner fattie dance with joy.  These days since alchie is NOT an option, I’ve been trying to de-stress with delicious food and drinks.  healthy right?  lol

G&B is like Go Get Em Tiger on Larchmont.  It’s a bar feel where you can walk up and order a drink (rather than wait in a line like normal coffee shops).  I ordered a sweet latte but what I REALLY wanted was the $8 Shake: 4 shots of espresso, ice cream and cream).  The shake tasted like heaven in your mouth.  I only had one sip since I’m preggo and can’t drink TOO much caffiene.  WAHHHH.  next time…

20150201_131242

Next up…Eggslut!! This is a new place that has been all the rage.  The lines are insane and so we thought that superbowl sunday would be the perfect time~~ which ended up being RIGHT!  We waited only about 30 minutes in line (as opposed to over an hour) and got a seat at the bar right away too.  clutch since it would have sucked to stand and eat.

pics of beautiful grand central market and restaurants.  not pictured is the most amazing taco i ended my little food tour with.  it was next door to eggslut and the line was ridiculously long~~ BUT the best part was that they were giving out samples of chicken tacos (aka a whole taco) and it was EXACTLY what I needed to end my time at Grand Central Station.  LOL

gorgeous view right?!  love downtown LA

IMG_2586

this little pic below is what my day after work looks like.  i’ve been taking lucy out on longer walks so that i can get some more exercise in.  i’m worried about gaining too much weight, not being strong enough for labor, and just…my health all around.  AND with crazy admissions season right now, these walks after work has really helped me relax and de-stress.  lucy is SOOO happy to be out and smelling everything that it always brings a smile to my face. =)  can’t wait until the days get longer and we have more sunny nights. xo

20150201_142029

AND it’s already FRIDAYYYY.  SO GLAD.  This was a really tough week and I’m looking forward to relaxing.  We’re going to mike’s parents house in palm springs and i can’t wait to get away for the weekend.  *sigh *

TGIF Ya’ll~~~ Hope you have an awesome weekend!! xoxo

Cindy and James get Married <3

On October 4th, Mike and I went to one of the most beautiful weddings (dare i say…in the world).  LOL  yes… THAT is how stunning this wedding was.  From the locations to the decor, everything perfectly represented this amazing couple.  (Fun fact, they have been together exactly as long as mike and i have! :D)

All these pics are from my phone or another phone so the quality is  meh.  But I hope you can still see what a magical night it was!

(i also didn’t have my phone during the ceremony so i don’t have any fab ones of that…but it was all white, simple and totally them!)

the reception was on the roof of a warehouse in downtown LA where they own a cafe.  not only was it a super meaningful location, but the views from the roof were UNBELIEVABLE.

March Recap & photodump Part I

This has been on SUPER busy month.  AND I can’t believe we’re already at the end of  APRIL!!!  gahhh time has FLOWN this year.  March was a super busy month filled with friends, birthdays and lots of date nights with Markel.  Lucy has also been getting older so we’ve hit some nice milestones with her as well.  She’s 6 months and is FIIIINALLY starting to get it: peeing outside (She uses pee pads inside), not biting everything (teething phase is almost over), listening to commands (although she doesn’t know her own name yet)… *sigh *  actually, as I write this down there are many more things we need to work on. lol oh well… let me continue on with my monthly recap!

March started off with Mike’s BFF getting married (longer post about it here).  It was a lovely wedding that really showcased their families and I loved that.  The older I get, the more important family is and so to have this couple come together with their huge families was absolutely beautiful.

wpid-20140301_180155.jpgwpid-20140301_175543.jpg

Next up, Ceebs’ 31st birthday bash!  We went to this trendy new place in LA called Republique (review here).  Can’t say I would go back there, but we had a great dinner there and caught up on all of our busy lives!

wpid-20140315_185935.jpg

Afterwards we went to 3Twenty Wine Lounge and it was really nice!  The service was friendly the decor was intimate and the wine was deliiiic.  For some reason the pic came out all smokey =(  but this wine lounge really capped off our fun night together!wpid-20140315_221130.jpg wpid-20140315_220138.jpg

My favorite little dongseng (younger brother) of all time turned 26.  I always think of him as 13/14 years old and can’t get over that he can drink, drive and have a girlfriend.  LOL

 wpid-20140308_224618_lls.jpg

These cool wings were drawn outside of the bar.  I wanted to stand in front of it and take a goofy pic but my feet hurt and the lighting was no good. >.<  next time!!

wpid-20140308_235335_lls.jpg

The first part of march was also a LOT of foooooooooooood.  So much good food every weekend with friends!  here’s a quick collage of all the good times <3

image

Went to a super cute bridal shower at Eveleigh in West Hollywood.  SUCH A CUTE JOINT!  I can’t wait to throw a bridal shower or baby shower there in my future!

image

March was a tough one for me.  Deadlines were non-stop the work was non-stop…I induldged in a lot of wine/champs every night to help me relax and calm my self.  Glad that rough time is over but these are some of my melodramatic photos from that time.  >.<  LOL

ANDDDD I can’t forget that Markel and I always try to have brunch together on the weekends.  It’s a nice time for us to relax together, catch up on shows and actually talk!  Markel works SUPER late every night and so by the time he comes home he just wants to eat, veg out and go to bed.  he works too hard =(  Anyway~~ the weekends feel like date night and a lazy brunch all rolled together. <3

image

annnd that is the end of part I.  march flew by so fast and looking back now, it was filled with lots of food and friends.  love the little community that markel and i have created together in LA.  always a dear friend just right around the corner to help you through a tough time, celebrate a milestone or just help you laugh off a bad week. <3 xoxo

Weekend Recap and Photodump

Alas…I’m super late on my weekend updates (again).  Here’s a recap from nov 16-18. =)

This weekend was incredibly relaxing.  I spent Friday night and all day Saturday hanging out alone and catching up on R&R.

An interesting tip from Cosmo (oct ’12 issue).  For ever alcoholic drink, drink 2 glasses of water after so you don’t get a wicked hangover.

uh oh…did not follow that rule this weekend…

LOVE waking up to a cup of joe with this YUMMY peppermint white chocolate creamer <3

Saturday Morning, Markel and I rode our bikes to Santa Monica and Venice beach.  It was SO MUCH FUN.  I haven’t done anything like this ever, so it was refreshing to do something new and spend the entire day sunbathing, eating, and relaxing on the beach =)

Birthday Ideas for your boyfriend

Every year I throw a ridiculous birthday party that spans 3 days for Markel.  For the past almost 4 years we’ve been dating, I have planned 3 big bday bashes…

The first year, I planned an extension of what he used to celebrate in College…Friday night we went to Tokyo Delves in North Hollywood.  I invited all of his friends from home and college, as well as some of mine.  The night ended with Michael Blair standing on his chair and dancing most of the night.  LOL  Saturday night, we did a “4th floor formal” where everyone dressed up, ate dinner at Mike’s apartment, pre-drank, and then we walked to a nearby bar (the very bar we met at <3).  Since this was the first year we had dated and I had yet to meet all of his friends, I felt really pressured to wear the perfect outfits and make sure that every details was PERFECT.  I’m sure his friends were really annoyed at how many “FYI” and “Reminder” emails I sent with color coordinated details.  I even sent out “save the dates” which, looking back, is pretty hilarious.  I was also so busy playing hostess that I don’t have a lot of pics…sowy Markel.

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/6374_776596651953_3209218_44384619_2321864_n.jpghttps://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/6374_776596781693_4738302_n.jpg

Year Two…Many of his friends couldn’t make it to Tokyo Delves and the ones that did were crazy about the place!  So I decided to throw his first night party at the same place.  The group was bigger and Markel had just as much energy as the first year.  I asked everyone to dress up (to kind of keep the “4th floor formal” theme)…This year, I still sent out a save the date, but relaxed about all the emails and plans.  Day 1 was Tokyo Delves and Day 2 was the beach & bonfire where I sent out a potluck list and made enough ribs to feed a small country.

After year two…I decided Beach was too hard.  So many things to prepare and it was hard to rely on other people to bring things.  Year three was an easy “Jersey Party” where everyone wore their favorite jersey’s and we “tailgated” at Mike’s friends’ apartment.  I made bacon wrapped hotdogs, ordered pizza, made a cake of donuts, and had prizes for the winners of the mini beer pong tournament I organized.  Afterward, we walked over to Mom’s Bar in West LA where I had reserved the back room.  The best thing about Mom’s is that the owner is INCREDIBLY nice, the cover is free, parking is free, drinks are $4, the music is awesome, and we got a few rounds of free birthday shots.

Now…the biggest challenge I have is planning his 26th birthday for 2012!  Some Ideas I have…

1. Bowling Tourney at Lucky Strike

2. Game Night & Drinks at ESPN Zone at LA Live

3. Angels/Dodgers game (nosebleed seats) with a FAT tailgate before the game

4. FAT ktown party.  Rent out a patio and invite 30 guests to come and eat, be obnoxious and drink their night away <3

What do you guys think?  What do you guys normally do for your boyfriend’s birthdays?
