H&M Haul

my post baby body has yet to return back to “normal”.  i have successfully lost more than half the weight gained during pregnancy but i’m not sure when my body will actually go back to normal.  *sigh *

soo…this last week i’ve been slowly trying on clothes in my closet to see what still looks good and what needs to be tossed out ASAP.  i’m scared to try on shoes for now (since i’m worried they won’t go back down to normal)…so for now i’m working on pants and tops.

during the last leg of my pregnancy i thought a lot about my new wardrobe and what kind of “work uniform” and “mom uniform” i wanted to wear.  (click here for work uniform background)  i knew i wanted something classic, simple and easy to mix and match.  truthfully…i’m sure both sets of uniforms could technically be the same.  the wilder and more colorful items that i love to fill my closet with is something i probably won’t be purchasing anymore (unless it’s a cheapo forever 21 item i can easily toss later).

as i start to refill my closet with clothing items, i tried to start with a base of good pieces that can easily be mixed and worn for every occasion.  since i’m still thinking this uniform thing over, i bought a bunch of items from H&M  to start.  if i love the ease of the “uniform”, i’ll invest in more expensive items~~ if i hate the uniform and need to be free and wear my bright colors~~ then i didn’t go overboard in my purchases.  naw mean?  i bought these items on the bigger side to add comfort and a bit of a casual vibe.  i used the Vince brand as inspiration as i carefully chose my foundation pieces.  here’s what i got below.  what do you think?

Lucy and Charlotte

Ever since we came home from the hospital, Lucy has been quite the curious detective about baby C. She sniffs all over the place when baby is near and tries to be close to her as often as possible. I melt every time lucy snuggles next to C. ^^

During pregnancy I had a lot of concerns about how it was all going to go. Would lucy be jealous and try to hurt the baby? Would the baby’s cries bother lucy? Should lucy still sleep on our bed? Would we forget lucy even existed? And finally…would we have to give lucy away??? *gasp*

But luckily…the transition has gone beautifully. We had to teach lucy to be super gentle around C and not lick or smell her. (At least until little C has all her shots. ^^) And so far so good! Lucy is cautious and very sweet when C is around. Lucy has also become a much calmer dog since we brought C home which has helped a lot (Thank God).

I can’t wait until they can interact together and be best fwends!! C was born bigger than lucy so it’ll be really fun to see them grow up together and watch as their relationship changes. <3 Here are some photos from the first few weeks we have been home. Xoxo image

Little C: Hospital Stay and Experience

Charlotte’s hospital stay, labor and delivery were such a blur.  I can hardly believe that less than 2 weeks ago she came into this world.  Seems like a world away already!

We had little C at Kaiser in West LA where I was born 30 years ago.  Pretty cool right?  And I have to say…the entire experience was incredible.  The nurses, doctors and staff were unbelievably kind and attentive.  I couldn’t have asked for a better hospital stay.  We stayed 2 nights (3 including when I went into labor) and I have to say…I would recommend that length of time to everyone!  The first night the baby mostly slept b/c she was tired from the birth and still had food in her system from the placenta.  But night 2…totally different story: she was hungry, my milk hadn’t come in, etc.  The next morning we were able to ask the nurses, doctor and lactation consultant all of our questions regarding the night of no sleep before~ they gave us so much advice and help!  They set us up with a supplemental nursing system (aka formula), they gave me a ton of pain killers for my neck (an injury from labor and something they wouldn’t have given me if we left earlier), and i got a bunch of one-on-one lessons about breast feeding from 2 different lactation consultants.  AWESOME.  PLUS the nurses gave us so many goodies to take home for the baby and my recovery~~

Coming home it’s been a totally surreal experience.  I can’t stop staring at C and am always trying to capture every single expression, movement and memory of her.  This entire experience has been such a blessing.  All the complaints I had about the pregnancy went out the window as soon as I saw her.  xoxo SOOO lucky and happy to call her our baby. <3

Here are some fun pics from the hospital I wanted to share with you!  C has changed so much in just these last two weeks~  you’ll see in my next post! =D

during the hospital stay, i loved being able to have quality time alone with the baby.  nurses were just a button away if something went wrong, but it was awesome not to have any worries except loving and bonding with the baby.  i will never forget the time the three of us spent in the hospital getting to know each other and adjusting as a new family. <3  i love taking pictures and documenting every moment since we can look back and cherish each second captured. xoxo

Charlotte Joo Young Blair

On May 7th, at 5:10pm, our little charlotte was born.  She was 7lbs 3oz and 20 inches long.  The entire experience was a whirlwind and one that I’m still processing~~I can’t believe I’m a mom, I can’t believe this beautiful babe is mine, I can’t believe this is all happening… the last YEAR of being pregnant is such a blur now that little C is here.  Charlotte is 1 week old today and she has already done SO MANY cool things, passed so many milestones (in newborn baby land) and is constantly evolving and changing.  Each day is so different, I can’t even imagine what 1 month, 6 months, 1 year will all be like!

Little C has been SUCH a champion eater and sleeper since the moment she was born.  She eats around the clock and sleeps in chunks of 3-5 hours at a time.  SOOO amazing since this new mama needs her sleep!  Last night she had a ridiculous amount of breast milk and formula and let Mike and I sleep for 5.5 hours straight.  CRAZY.  We are so grateful for her sweet temperament and her eating/sleeping habits.  More on that later…today I just wanted to share some pics of C’s first week in the world and all the funny/wonderful/awesome things she has done.

C passed out after a feeding

C’s first diaper change.  As you can see…it wasn’t pretty.  lol

C’s first pediatrician appt in the hospital–healthy as a lamb <3

C’s hearing test.  Passed with flying colors. =)

in another milk coma~~ you can dress her up and make her do anything as long as she’s fed.  ^^ think she got that from her mama <3  blair ladies do NOT handle hangry well.

the hospital gave us a celebratory meal with apple cider, flowers and a table cloth.  it was nice to share a nice meal together after the last 36 hours of craziness!  of course we didn’t get to eat at the same time since little C woke up but it was nice while it lasted. ^^

C’s first ride home and first time using the car seat.  it was so weird leaving the hospital with the baby.  just really surreal~~ like you’ve seen it done hundreds of times in the movies but it’s so strange when it’s you.

when we got home lucy was DYYYYING to smell and lick Charlotte.  unfortunately they can’t meet until C gets her shots so for now…lucy is obsessively watching from a far.  whenever we get up off the couch or put c’s clothes in the hamper, lucy goes nuts smelling around and figuring out who this little human is.  i can’t wait to document the moment when they do meet!image

two days after coming home, we had to take C back to the pediatrician to see how she was progressing.  i’m happy to report that she is incredibly healthy and growing beautifully. <3

i obsess over everything now.  i take about 100 pictures a day of little c yawning, blinking, sleeping, eating… seriously EVERYTHING.  nothing is too small to photograph.  lol

i have about 1000 photos on our SLR from the hospital that i’ll post soon.  this last week has been SOOO incredible and SOOO surreal.  i just can’t believe this is my life now and i have this beautiful bundle of adorableness.  will check in with ya’ll soon! xoxo

Markel turns 29!

today is markel’s 29th birthday~~ since we had baby blair coming, i wanted to make sure we were able to properly celebrate his bday with his friends (his last before becoming a daddy).  So we had a little party of him back in April at his favorite place in the world with his favorite friends. <3

below is his favorite game EVER.  lol

mike had his eyes on this helicopter and won 4700 tickets to take that baby home.  4700…yes…that was NOT a small amount.  lol  but his friends picked equally big prizes to win and spent the entire night drinking, laughing, and competing to get their prizes.  oh boys…

first round of shots for the evening.

Baby Blair’s Nursery

the nursery has been something i’ve been putting off as much as possible.  not sure why, but it’s just been so hard to get it together.  i just didn’t have a vision or a theme for the room.  i dunno…this pregnancy was so hard that i think the nursery was the last thing on my mind.  BUT thanks to michael blair’s pushing and ability to get his family to help~~ the nursery is COMPLETE. <3  and the fun part is that my mom kept a bunch of my baby stuff (like the yellow blanket above and the white bear below) which made the room more touching and personal.  i love that baby blair will get to use my own baby items as she grows up. <3

here are some small snap shots of the room~~ the lighting is a bit yellow so i apologize for that.  the room is on the darker side. =(

i dunno why but i LOVE these baskets.  i love the color and how they can later be used as toy baskets for the baby. =D

40 Weeks…and no sign of Baby Blair

2015-05-03 10.15.00

Today is my due date.  Where is baby blair?  no where in sight… >.<  *sigh *

she’ll probably be super late like her mama and weight 10lbs.  *groan*  i tried so hard to make sure the baby was going to be around 7-8lbs max but these last few weeks my appetite has been INSANE.  like i have a tapeworm in my mouth.  to make matters worse i can’t walk or move around as much so that doesn’t help either.  oh wells… what can you do right?  but it feels REALLY weird that i’ve hit 40 weeks.  this turkey is DONE and ready to come out!

my mood is getting grumpier and grumpier as i roll around like a turtle on it’s back.  my carpel tunnel is at an all time high (in terms of pain).  and my nose is growing exponentially… who knew my freaking NOSE would swell??  gahhh… pregnancy is so not cute.  i was 1 cm dilated on April 20th and two weeks later…i’m still only 1 cm dilated.  GRRR.  to make matters even more frustrating even my false labor pains have gone away.  those were giving me hope of the impending arrival of baby blair~~ but those have even subsided.  *tear *

anyway…sorry let me move AWAY from this pity party of one and on to some fun news, events and pictures from this last week on maternity leave!

joiji and vinihana got engaged!!

i got my 10 year certificate & pin from UCLA (yrs of service).  disappointingly tho…they spelled my name wrong. >.<  what the heck huh?
